How a deep sea fishing trip works
Most trips leave around sunrise, when the water is calm and the fish are feeding, and run for four hours or more so there is time to reach the offshore grounds, fish properly and come back without rushing. The captain chooses the spot on the day from the conditions: reefs, wrecks and drop-offs a few nautical miles out are typical. Beginners get a hand with rigging and technique; experienced anglers are welcome to bring their own gear.
What you might catch
The Gulf off Dubai holds kingfish, queenfish, barracuda, trevally, cobia and several reef species, with bigger pelagics on good days. What bites depends on the season, the tide and the weather, so no crew can promise a catch; cooler months from October to April are generally the most comfortable time to go. Some species have size limits or seasonal protection, which the crew will explain on board.
Choosing the boat
Dedicated sport-fishing boats are the value choice for four to eight anglers, while 44 to 65 ft yachts give a mixed group shade, a saloon and a toilet if not everyone wants to fish all morning. Fuel, water and safety gear are included; rods, tackle and bait are arranged with your booking. Tell us how many people will actually fish and we will suggest the right boat.
Rules and permits
Recreational fishing in UAE waters is regulated. On a charter, the operator is responsible for the boat's permits and for keeping the trip within the rules, including protected species and size limits. Guests do not need a boating licence. If you plan to keep your catch, ask the crew what is allowed that day; catch-and-release is always welcome.
